Our company
Axsys Iinc. was established in 1994 by Partners Steve Braykovich and Roy Howard as a distributor of PC-based Mastercam software and Unix-based CIMLINC software in the State of Michigan. The Mastercam product addressed the needs of the majority of our customer base in terms of standard machines and applications. The CIMLINC product provided us the ability to address customers who’s needs required more capability in the design, production and inspection of large, complex molds, die and fixtures as well as needs in product and tool design applications.
Steve Braykovich had come from Unix workstation manufacturer and CAD/CAM software developer CIMLINC after 12 years of employment in positions ranging from Application Engineer, custom software development, sales and sales management with a final position of Director of Product Sales and Marketing. Roy was the Sales Manager of the local Mastercam office serving the State of Michigan..
Over the years we have represented a variety of CAD/CAM software products to address rhe manufacturing needs of virtually every industrial market segment and application. These products include those from Delcam International, Parametric Technologies (ProEnginner) and Siemens/Unigraphics.
In 2009, after feeling the pains of a significant down-turn in revenue related to the automotive, aerospace and consumer products vertical markets we established Axsys Dental Solutions. At that time (and to a large part today) the dental industry was at the early adoption stage of digital dentistry. We saw the dental market as a way to leverage our core competency into a growth market that would not only protect Axsys Inc. in adverse economic times but a pathway to significantly grow our business.
We have quickly established ourselves as the leading authority in digital dental manufacturing providing CAD/CAM software, CNC milling machines and consumable products, training and service to dental labs, milling centers and dental practices in the design and production of a wide variety of dental prostheses. CAMWorks is a feature‑based CAM system designed for programming CNC machines, fully embedded in SOLIDWORKS so CAD and CAM data live in a single file SOLIDWORKS. This integration eliminates the need to export/import models and ensures toolpaths update automatically when designs change.

As the founders, chief architects and managers of Axsys Inc., we are proud recipients of the 2020 JDT WOW! award for our Robotic Disc Handling System, a key part of Axsys’ Digital Dental 2.0 suite. This first-of-its-kind, affordable collaborative robot automates the loading and unloading of puck materials, enhancing machine utilization and spindle time. It works with virtually any machine, providing up to 24 hours of continuous operation for seamless productivity.
In 2024, we were honored with a second award, recognizing our continued innovation and excellence. Axsys Technical Educational Services has launched two programs through our Virtual Academy, leveraging over 800 man-years of industrial digital manufacturing experience. These unique programs offer CAM and machining training tailored to the dental community, providing incremental skills development remotely from home, office, or lab, complementing our traditional classroom training. With Axera, and its new underlying products and new technologies, we are now poised to take our customers to the next level of productivity and profitability.
